MACON COUNTY, NC -- NEWSPAPER ITEMS -- CLAYTON CLIPPINGS JUL 1893 CLAYTON CLIPPINGS (Local Affairs) PUBLISHED IN THE FRANKLIN PRESS, July 5, 1893 - Vol. VII, No. 38 CLAYTON, RABUN CO., GA. The examination for teachers' license was held here last Staurday. Quite a crowd was in attendance and all seemed to be deeply interested. Our "bestest" drummer was in town last week receiving smiles and orders from the young ladies. Mr. James Gibson, of Bryson City, was visiting relatives here last Sunday and Monday. Mrs. Dean and chidlren, of Atlanta, are still at the Wall House. Mr. Gus. Swafford has returned to his business, after being confined here for some time because of the illness of his little boy and girl who had scarlet fever. A pretty lot of hats and ribbons can now be seen at the millinery store. Mr. Everett Earls is at home from Alabama, after an absence of about eleven months. We are glad to welcome him back. Our institute will commence about the 10th of July and something may be learned. Come one and all. ARGUS. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
