MACON COUNTY, NC -- NEWSPAPER ITEMS -- CLAYTON CLIPPINGS MAR 1893 CLAYTON CLIPPINGS (Local Affairs) PUBLISHED IN THE FRANKLIN PRESS, Mar. 8, 1893 - Vol. VII, No. 21 CLAYTON, RABUN CO., GA. - Rabun court was in session last week and we all had a gay time, especially the girls, as a good many young men attended court and tried courting at the same time. - The mountain girls always have a pleasant time roving from mountain to mountain, enjoying the fresh air and water. We have a delightful climate and a nice place for invalids. - Clayton has two hotels and several private boarding houses. She also has a good school and it is believed our Prof. is competent to teach almost anything. We hope soon to have the best school is N.E. Georgia. - It is with regret that we note some of our near neighbors sending so far away from home to school. Our boys and girls who go away to school carry away enough money to build up a high school right here at home. - Messrs. Burch and Swafford were in town last week with their samples, talking to our merchants. - Mr. Norris, from the "Wild West" came to our place last week from Walhalla accompanied by J. C. Langston. He will remain about a week. He seems to attract the attention of the ladies at the hotel. - Dr. Green and family have returned from Atlanta after a three months' stay, and we are glad to welcome them home. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
