Johnston returned from Shelby court last week. - Solicitor Geo. A. Jones was at home the latter part of last week. - M.L. Mauney, Esq., has secured the Murphy postoffice and great now is Lycurgus. - The whole layout of Franklin Attorneys is attending court at Webster this week. - Misses Jennie and Addie Wood, of Iotla, are stopping at the Allman House for a few days. - Mr. I.B. Conley, of Bryson City, died last Wednesday of pnneumonia. - Corn planting season is here. - Last Wednesday night was a stormy one - wind and rain. - Mr. J.C. Wright received sixteen barrels of potatoes last week, and they went like hot cakes. - Rev. J.A. Deal and Mr. W.R. Stalleup went to Cashier's Valley Wednesday and returned Friday. - Last Friday was a gloomy, raw day, with snow on the mountains - a rare mixture of green and white. - R.H. Jarrett & Sons have sold out of hardware part of their merchandise to the Franklin Hardware Company. - Rev. Ellwood Bulgin came in Thursday on a visit to relatives. He came from Chicago as his last stopping place. - Mr. P. Howard, of Smith's Bridge, was in town Thursday.
