Munday is building a new smoke-house. - Attend the lecture at the Methodist church tomorrow night. - Mr. James Dalrymple, of Nantahala, died last Wednesday, aged about 60. - R.R. Porter, of Asheville, was looking after our merchants Saturday. - Mr. Riley Hooper, of Cashiers Valley, was in town cracking jokes Saturday. - Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Perry's infant, aged about four months, died last Thursday evening. - Country wagons bring in loads of fine apples almost daily. Fine, large Buffs are delicious now. - L.D. Ewing and H. Rosenburg, of Atlanta, were autographed at the Franklin House Saturday. - Mr. J.V. Curtis, of Shooting Creek, NC, brother of the editor, spent Friday night and Saturday in town. - Mrs. Mary Roane, of Aquone, came over last Thursday to spend a week visiting friends in and near Franklin. - Bishop Hendrix, of Missouri, presided over the Western North Carolina conference at Winston. - Mr. J.S. Moore, of Bowersville, Ga., came in Saturday to spend a week among old time friends. - The new county officers all filed their bonds Monday except Mr. R.A. Wood, who was sick and not able to be out. - Miss Hattie Sloan, who has been teaching at Paint Rock, came home Saturday to spend the Christmas holidays. - Dr. W.H. Higgins left last Friday morning for Atlanta to enter the Dental College, and will be absent nearly all winter. - Mr. Thos. Sisk has opened a shop for making and repairing boots and shoes, and will soon have a nice advertisement in the PRESS. - J.R. Swan, late agent of the R.R. Co., at Dillsboro, has been transferred to Connelly's SPrings, adn W.J. Kincaid, of that place, has been assigned to duty at Dillsboro. - All who are interested in getting up a town library will please meet at the residence of R.L. Porter, East Main St., next Friday evening at 8 o'clock. All are invited. - Ernest Eubank, of Hendersonville, spent two or three days of the past week in Franklin representing the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. - Mr. Etisha Thomas, of Rabun Gap, Ga., died last Wednesday night of pneumonia fever. He resided in the same community where Mr. Grist and Mrs. Darnell died about two weeks before. - Hon. Kope Elias has purchased the W.M. Sanderson farm near Hayesville, for $6,500. The farm is one of the finest in Clay county and Mr. Elias gets it at a bargain as it is well worth $10,000. - Mr. R. Teague, formerly of Buncombe county, has located temporarily in our town, and is looking around with a view to buying property and locating permanently in our section. We hope he made succeed. - Mr. H.M. Bascom, of Highlands, was in town Monday and put on the Commissioner's harness and went to work like an old veteran.
