Moore went to Clay last week. - Mr. Blaine's estate is estimated to be worth $800,000 - John Jew, the peddler, is said to be desperately afraid of rats. - O for a thousand tongues to lick The new Columbian stamps. - Sore eyes are afflicting a portion of our citizens in some parts of the county. - Mr. Elam Slagle, of Crawford, was in town Thursday disposing of some fine apples. - The town street-plow takes the weather as it comes near Mr. Ash's residence. - A great many people were in town Saturday and our merchants did a thriving business. - Mr. Will Downs and family visited friends on Burningtown Thursday and returned Friday. - Messrs. P. Howard, H.T. Mozeley and A.B. Conley, of Smith's Bridge, were in town Wednesday. - Rev. S.H. Harrington, of Murphy, spent three or four days of the past week among his Macon friends. - Rev. A.W. Jacobs and wife, of Hayesville, have been spending a few days visiting friends in Macon. - Two uncouth looking daos accompanied by a couple of large Cinnamon bears were in town yesterday. - Married, February 1st, on Iotla, Mr. A.W. Horn and Miss Lucilla Barnard, J.P. Campbell, Esq., officiating. - Married, January 23, 1893, at the residence of Mrs. Mary Downs on Cowee, Mr. George Brendle and Miss Lily Downs, W.J. Jenkins, Esq., officiating. - Rev. E.L. Siler went to Mecklenburg county last week on a call preliminary to an engagement to supply a Presbyterian church during the coming year. - There was no preaching at the Methodist church Sunday and Sunday night owing to the absence of Rev. Mr. Comann holding quarterly conference at Snow Hill. - The land belonging to the Elisha Long estate, situated on Coweta in Smith's Bridge Township, was sold at public sale Monday and was bid off my Logan A. Allen at $1,495. - There was a wild blizzard roaming around loose in Minnesota last Friday followed by weather a long way on the wrong side of zero. Look out, it may be heading this way. - Cap. J.W. Terrell, of Webster, came over last Wednesday and returned home Thursday accompanied by Mrs. Terrell who has been spending the winter with her sister, Mrs. Laura Robertson. - We regret to learn the death of Mrs. C.P. Weaver, of Weaverville, NC, which occurred a few days ago. She was a sister of Rev. A.W. Jacobs, adn Messrs. Geor. A. and A.W. Jacobs, of Macon. - Mr. J.B. Cunningham is having his store-room on East Main Street handsomely fitted up and soon expects to open up business, of which, no doubt, the readers of the PRESS will be apprised by an attractive and businesslike advertisement. - Mr. G.B. McCrary, of Morristown, Tenn., was in town last Thursday. Mr. McCrary's interests are two-folk, to sell the people "Morristown Choice" and to look after the interests of the choice young windows are eligible spinsters over a large extent of the country.
