Franks, of Bryson City, was in town yesterday. - Messrs. A.S. Bryson and W.R. Johnston are home for a few days. - Born Saturday night, Feb. 11th, to Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Franks, a son. - For sale, my house and lot in Franklin. -- C.C. Smith - P.P. Fletcher, of Sylva, spent a couple of days at the Allman House last week. - A drummer has given the editor of the Scout a pocket-knife and he is supremely happy. - One of the "oldest inhabitants" has fixed the date of the "Cold Saturday" as Feb. 7th, 1835. - Mr. A.S. Bryson has received a pair of fine, thoroughbred Berkshire pigs, 3 months old, which are beauties. - W.P. Pullman, of Morristown, Tenn., and Chas. L. Sluder, of Asheville, were at the Franklin House last week. - Married, at White-oak Flats, Feb. 7, 1893, Wm. Fouts, aged 83, and Mary Anderson, aged 45, S.J. May, Esq., officiating. - There are numbers of families in Macon county who are entirely too poor to take the PRESS and pay for it, yet support from two to six worthless dogs. - Rev. John S. Smiley, of Swain county, called on us Saturday and spent an hour in pleasant conversation and enrolled his name on our subscription list. - Mr. Benj. Titsworth, of Tennessee, arrived Saturday evening on a visit to his brother, Mr. M.M. Titsworth, who is very low with consumption at Mr. D.C. Cunningham's. - Hugh A. Murrill has sold the Hickory Press and Carolinian to Col. Marcellus E. Thornton, an old newspaper man, of Georgia. Col.
