Jacobs, of Cullasaja, was in town Saturday on business. - The ground was covered with about eight inches of snow last Friday. - The telephone wires between Dillsboro, Franklin and Highlands, are being repaired. - Mr. Horace G. Kibbee, of Highlands, called in to see us on two days last week. - Attention is directed to the corrected schedule of the Richmond & Danville Railroad. - On account of the snow no mails arrived from Aquone and Highlands at 12 o'clock last Friday. - Attention to the daily habits of the young prevents suffering. Angel has built a neat residence near the Colored Baptist church beyond the bridge and moved into it. - We are sorry to learn that Mrs. N.G. Allman has been very sick for a few days past, but hope she may soon recover. - Mr. E.L. Bowers, of Chicago, arrived last Friday and will remain on business about two weeks before returning home. - Franklin can boast of having four "Knights of the Grip". Messrs. W.R. Johnston, A.S. Bryson, J.O. Harrison and E.D. Franks. - Mr. W.B. Lenoir received a telegram last Friday, announcing the death of his brother, Mr. John Lenoir, at Lenoir's, Tenn. The telephone wires being down, the telegram was brought over from Webster on horseback. - Mr. Jas. P. Angel has removed the office formerly occupied by Dr. S.H. Lyle, from the front of Mr. E.H. Frank's new dwelling on Main Street and placed it on the west side of the Higdon brick store and will occupy it as a harness and saddlery shop. - The following county officers were elected in Rabun county, Georgia, at the january election: Clerk of Superior Court, H.C. Hollifield; Sheriff, A.L. Dillard; Tax Collector, Miles C. Canup; Tax Receiver, Thos. King; County School Commissioner, Wm. J. Neville; Treasurer, J.L. Dobson. - Mr. J. Frank Ray of macon, introduced a bill Monday to repeal the charter of the Blue Ridge and Rabun Gap Short Line Railroad. The Chronicle printed it "extend." If Mr. Ray had introduced such a bill he could not have returned to Macon county, and the Chronicle wishes to set him right before his people. -- State Chronicle. - The Epworth League meets at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 3 1/2 o'clock. Mr. F.T. Smith will give a short reading and comment on danger of covetousness, Miss Annie Robinson on the difference between a wise man and a fool, and Mr. Sam L. Rogers on "Simple One."
