Burch, of Athens, Ga., is in our county now. - Dr. Ed. Webb of Clarkesville, was registered at the Franklin House last week. - E.H. Hunt, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was registered at the Franklin House Saturday. - McClure and Morgan were released from jail yesterday, having served their sentence of one month. - J.L. Humphreys, of Jonesboro, and D.K. Staley, of Knoxville, Tenn., were in town Monday. - Mrs. Addie Hicks, a widow lady living about three miles from town died last Friday morning of la grippe. - Jesse Gregory, a one-armed and one-eyed Confederate soldier, has walked 33,024 miles and carried the U.S. mails within the last six years, and is still able to walk his thirty miles a day. - Rev. Otis L. Jordan, traveling agent for the Western North Carolina Methodist, was in our town from Saturday till Tuesday, and preached to an attentive congregation at the Methodist church Sunday night. - Our "devil" bought an outfit of fishing tackle last Friday and headed for the mountains, so if our readers don't get the PRESS on time this week, they may know that the "devil" is handling angle-worms instead of types. - Mrs. James K. Gray, the mother of the late Lieut. Gov. J.L. Robinson, whose home is on Ellijay, has been spending a few days among her many friends in Franklin, after returning from a visit to her sister, Mrs. B.K. Dickey, of Cherokee county. - Some boys named Monteit, in Hamburg, Jackson county, a few days ago shot another boy named Henson out of a tree, he falling about forty feet. The Monteiths did not know Henson had climbed into the tree to a crow's nest, but mistook his black hair for a crow and fired.
