Jarrett, of Dillsboro, spent Sunday in Franklin. - Hon. J.F. Ray returned home from Raleigh Monday evening. - Mr. Sumner Clark, of Highlands, gave us a pleasant call yesterday. - Mr. Jess ANgel has removed to Sylva to work at the harness trade. - Mr. J. Johnston holds up his hand and says he pays for more than three copies of the PRESS. All O.K. Who next? - Sunday school at the Methodist church will open promptly at 9:30am during the spring and summer months. - "Gov." John Reid, of Andrews, has been shaking hands with his many friends around Franklin during the past week. - Mr. Henry Ray, of Burningtown, was in town the latter part of last week, visitng his daughter, Mrs. Will Downs. - Mrs. Wil Young, of Cedartown, Ga., has been spending several days visiting the family of Mr. A.P. Munday in our town. - Wm. Arnold, of Sugarfork, died Feby, 25, 1893, at the age of 77. He had lived an humble Christian life about sixty years. - Messrs. Kope Elias, R.L. Porter and W.C. Allman left last Thursday morning for Washington to attend the inauguration. - J.B. Brodrick, of Georgia, and S.D. James and L. Morris, of Alabama, were reigstered at the Allman House Sunday and Monday. - Mr. Ray introduced a bill in the legislature on the 24th to incorporate the Harriman, Franklin and South Atlantic railroad. - Charley Perry's family left last week for Jarrett's where Mr. Perry has been employed for several mouths past at a saw mill. - When the law of man conflicts with the law of God our duty is to obey the higher law and abide by the consequences without a murmur. - Last Saturday morning brought a blizzard to remind us that spring had not come yet. A heavy north wind and snow rendered the day very uncomfortable. - N.L.
