Tilson returned to Franklin Monday. - Mr. J.O. Harrison has sown grass seed on his lawn. - Mr. M.A. Gee, of Bushnell, was in town last Friday. - Mr. Arthur Roberts, of Asheville, is visiting friends in Franklin. - The candidates for the post-office in Franklin seem to be on a still hunt. - Mr. W.T. Potts is building a neat side room to his store on East Main street. - Mr. John O. Harrison brought in a fine duck from the river Thursday evening. - Mr. C.E. Henslee, of Atlanta, Ga., was registered at the Allman House Monday. - J.C. Wright is filling his store with all kinds of seasonable goods. Call and see them. - The street brigade has been paying its respects to Iotla street during the last two weeks. - Mrs. R.H. Jarrett, of Dillsboro, came over Friday and spent three or four days in town. - Mr. Pat E. McGuire went over to Andrews Monday where he has a job of work to do in the carpenter's line. - Mr. Ham Anderson, the contracting church builder, of Franklin, was in the city this week -- BRYSON CITY TIMES. - Misses Ellen and Mary Garland, of Smith's Bridge, visitng friends in Franklin, spent Friday night at ye editor's home. - Mrs. Geo. A. Jones went to Asheville last Friday to meet Mr. Jones who is attending his courts in that part of the circuit. - Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Daniels have received a handsome new set of furniture, of oak, and expect to go to house keeping soon. - Rev. E.L. Titsworth, of Tennessee, arrived last Wednesday evening on a visit to his sick brother at Mr. D.C. Cunningham's. - Miss Annie Gibson, of Jackson, was in town from Friday till Sunday on her way to visit relatives in Rabun county, Georgia. - We are glad to see Mrs. J.O. Harrison so far recovered from her long spell of illness as to be able to ride out one day last week. - Rev. A.H. Sims, of Dillsboro, has been assisting Rev. G.A. Bartlett in the protracted meeting at the Baptist church during the past week. - Register of Deeds, J.S. Sloan, issued license to wed last Saturday to John S. Pendergrass and Mary A. Holbrooks, of Nantahala Township. - Charley Wells has done some fine and handsome work on the front portico of his house on East Main street, and is putting a neat fence in front. - Mr. W.J. West, of West's Mills, left last week bound for New Mexico. He expects to remain a year or more to study the country with a view to removing his family. - We understand that a Mr. Parsons who has recently moved to the old Sanderson homestead, has rented the property from Hon. K. Elias, for the present year. -- HAYESVILLE ADVANCE. - Five dollars reward is offered for the detection and conviction of the person who was drunk and vomited on the steps of the Baptist church last Saturday during the services. - Rev. E.L. Titsworth, of Tennessee, preached an interesting sermon Sunday in the Methodist Church on Christian earnestness. He filled the pulpit by invitation of Rev. D.H. Comann. - Dr. S.H. Lyle was called to Highlands late Saturday evening to see HIram Paul who met with the misfortune to have his left arm sawn off below the elbow in a shingle mill. Amputation was necessary. - W.H. Duvall, Ivy Log, Ga., has left his postmaster to notify us that his paper remains dead in the office, no reason assigned. If Mr. Duvall will send us $2.25 to square his account we will think better of him. - Mr. S.A. Bell, of Cullasaja, called in to see us Friday, and talked some right sound and sensible talk about subscribing for home papers and paying for them. He appreciates the PRESS and will not do without it. - The station parsonage is undergoing repairs to fit it for occupancy by Mr. C.C. Daniels. The question arises as to whether he will be a parson after moving into the parsonage, and living between two other parsons. - Dr. J.H. Wolff, of Sylva, was in town Monday in consultation with Dr. S.H. Lyle concerning Mr. Fred Siler who is afflicted with appenditis. It was decided that an operation can be avoided, at least, for the present. - Mr. W.R. Johnston, accompanied by Mrs. J. Johnston and Dr. S.H. Lyle, returned home from Nashville, Tenn., last Wednesday.
