Tompkins, of Webster, was in town Sunday. - The weather is fictitious and uncertain these days. - Is it not about time for Franklin to get up a wedding? - Mrs. T. Baxter White, of Highlands, is visiting friends about Franklin. - We were pleased to see Mr. T. Baxter White, of Highlands, in town Thursday. - The editor made a business trip to Rabun Gap, Friday, returning Sunday evening. - Jas. B. Ballard, of Asheville, was at the Franklin House last Wednesday. - W.H. Cochran, Esq., of Flats, was in town from Saturday to Tuesday. - Dr. J.H. Fouts, of Glenville, spent several days of the past week with friends in Macon. - Capt. R.H. Fitzhugh left yesterday for South Carolina in the interests of our railroad enterprise. - The fifth Congressional district seems to be in doubt. It will probably take the official court to determine. - WE devote most of our space this week to Thanksgiving matter, which we trust our readers will find interesting. - A neat and substantial foot-bridge across the branch on Rabun Street is an improvement in the right direction. - The PRESS office is no place for "kids" to loafe, and we trust we may be favored with their absence in future. - Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Roane, of Bushnell, have been visiting friends in Franklin during the larger part of the past week. - Mrs. Carrie L. Cox, of Mineral Wells, Tex., is visiting her uncle Rev. C.D. Smith and will remain several weeks. - Wm. M. Hoffman, of Detroit, Mich., and Sheppard Hemans, of New York, were at the Allman House Sunday night. - Messrs. T. Ritchie and Andrew Garland, and Misses Lizzie Garland and Emma Curtis, of Rabun Gap, were down on a visit Saturday. - Old Mrs. Lease is in a fair way to be elected United States Senator. She seems to be the biggest fellow in the race. - We are pleased to see H.L. Anderson at home after several weeks' absence working at his trade, carpentry, at Webster. - Mr. W.B.
