His work all lies on the railroad now, extending from Murphy to Sylva. We can safely recommend Mr. Harrington as a good and faithful minister and, no doubt, he will be well received in his new field of labor. - Mr. A.H. Welch, of Swain county, was in town last Wednesday. Mr. Welch has a beard that measures three feet, nine inches, and reaches down to a point half way between his knee and foot. He says it has been sixteen years since he had shaved. When at work he wears his beard "done up" like a woman's hair. - Mr. J.A. Munday returned Wednesday evening of last week from his jaunt to the Great West. He was about six weeks in journeying through Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park. He expresses himself as highly pleased with the country and contemplates moving to that section in the future. - Some men were attempting to drive a mulley steer on the scales last Friday to be weighed. Not liking the business the steer turned and entered the door leading to the stairway of Dr. Higgins' dental office and proceeded up stairs. A young lady who was having some dental work done vacated the chair a great deal more promptly than she would have done had Grover Cleveland entered the room. The Dr. dismissed him as unceremoniously as he had entered. - Everybody should turn out tomorrow to hear Messrs. Crawford, Pritchard, and Brown speak, and everybody should turn out again next Saturday and hear Messrs. Carr and Osborne. This is a campaign of education and the way to be educated is to give a patient hearing to all sides. Come out, gentlemen. - C.W.
