Gudger and Mrs. Ed Davidson, of Asheville, nieces of Dr. C.D. Smith, hearing of his accident last week came on a visit to him and spent two or three days. - The Presbyterians held their meeting and communion at the Methodist church from Friday night to sunday and some very good preaching was done by Revs. Foster and Jesse Siler. Four accessions to the church were announced by the pastor Sunday. CARR AND OSBOURNE Elias Carr, and Frank L. Osbourne spoke in Franklin Saturday. Mr. Carr's speech was plain, practical, logical, argumentative and sensible. He discussed the tariff question fully and showed how it was robbing the poor laboring classes. He also touched up some of the third party nominees, and taken all in all made a fine speech. Mr. Osbourne entertained the audience for more than an hour and no speaker since the days when Zeb Vance used to visit this section has given more witty sarcasm and mirth provoking address. He kept the audience in a pleasant mood during the whole time he was speaking, occasionally growing eloquent and at times, pathedic. His speech was well received and made a good impression on his hearers, and the result will be to stresngthen the democratic vote in Macon. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
