MACON COUNTY, NC -- NEWSPAPERS -- TENNESSEE VALLEY NEWS MAY 1893 TENNESSEE VALLEY NEWS (Local Affairs) PUBLISHED IN THE FRANKLIN PRESS, May 3, 1893 - Vol. VII, No. 29 TENNESSEE VALLEY The cold winds of the past week were succeeded by a heavy frost this morning and it is feared all the fruit is killed. The topic of the past week has been who is the rightful owner of twenty- one silver dollars found by Mrs. James Williams who lives on the land of Mr. Humphrey Garland? The money was found on the Garland lands. Friday, May 26, has been appointed a memorial day at the Baptist graveyard. The ladies will have disher on the grounds, and everybody is invited to attend. James Fuller's six year old boy was thrown by a mule a few days ago and seriously hurt. There is a good deal of confusion over the attempt to move the post office back to the Academy. If it is moved application will be made for a new office. WE regret to learn of the death of Jno. M. Rickman, of Asheville, who has many relatives in our community.
