The man Stiles, who was run over by a passenger train near here recently and whose leg was amputated close up to his body is doing remarkably well and it is believed now that he will get well. Ex-Gov. Chamberlain, of South Carolina, spent from Monday to Wednesday at the White Sulphur. Mr. C.S. White, of the enterprising firm of WHite & Lewis, returned Saturday from Franklin where he put in a pump for Mr. D. cunningham, the liveryman. Mr. C. was well pleased with the work, and several other parties have ordered pumps for Franklin. Mr. Z.V. Rogers, formerly one of the editors of the COURIER, received a letter from Hon. W.T. Crawford on Monday night informing him that he had succeeded in getting him an appointment in the government printing office at a salary of $3.20 per day. Mr. Rogers has sent in his acceptance and will go to Washington about the 10th of September.
