A force pump drives the water to a tank in the upper portion of the build. Prof. W.A. Garland of Hendersonville, who once was connected with the COURIER, arrived here last Saturday night and is selling territory for a first-rate patent bed brace. Mr. Z.V. Rogers left here Monday morning for Washington, D.C. He was to begin work in the Government printing office yesterday. We have in our possession two mammoth cabbages raised by Mr. T.W. Mitchell, one weighs 15 pounds and the other 17. Boone & Williamson have given us an Irish potato that weighs 2 lbs and 5 ounces. Mr. D.R. Allen brought into our office last Monday, the largest and finest apple we have seen. It weighed 1 pound and 9 1/2 ounces, and measured 12 inches in circumference.
