MACON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - MRS. RENA CLAXTON, SEPT 1891 Published in the Franklin Press, Sept. 23, 1891 - Vol. VI, No. 27 DEATH OF MRS. CLAXTON The friends of Mrs. Rena Claxton, wife of Prof. P.P. Claxton, superintendent of Asheville City schools were shocked to hear of her sudden death on Sunday afternoon last. She died at the residence of Col. J.D. Cameron. Mrs. Claxton was a native of Goldsboro, N.C., the daughter of William Moore, of that place. She was a talented and loveable lady, of most gentle manners and disposition, who endeared herself to everyone. She was about twenty-six years of age and leaves a five year old daughter to mourn, with others, her loss. The funeral services were conducted at the residence of Col. Cameron by Rev. McNeely DuBose, of Trinity Episcopal Church, after which the remains were taken to Goldsboro for interment.
