MACON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - J.M. LYLE, AUG. 28, 1892 Published in the Franklin Press, Aug. 31, 1893 - Vol. VII, No. 24 DEATH OF DR. J.M. LYLE Dr. J.M. Lyle is dead. He was one of the leading citizens of Macon county and a good man is gone. His sickness was of short duration. He left town late Thursday evening enjoying apparently as good health as has usually been his lot for months past. He awoke about midnight and complained of feeling unwell. In a few minutes he was delirious. He continued to rapidly grow worse until about five o'clock Sunday morning when his spirit took its flight. The cause of his death was inflamation of the brain. He lacked twenty days of being 72yrs old. He professed religion and joined the Methodist church at 11yrs of age and lived a consistent Christian life up to the time of his death. He was a practising physical 38 years. He represented Macon county two terms in the General Assembly. He first married Miss Laura Siler at the age of 30 years and she lived with him 16 years and died. He afterwards married Miss Nannie Moore who survives him. Five children blessed each marriage, and three of each family are still living. Dr. Lyle will be missed in the church and educational interests of the community. The funeral took place at 4 o'clock Sunday evening conducted by Rev. D.H. Comann, assisted by Rev. W.R.
