MACON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - MARY J. MALLONEE

Mrs. Mary J. Mallonee was born March 27th, 1853, on Cartoogechaye Creek, and
died at her home on Iotla creek, Macon county, N.C., July 31, 1890. 

She was married to Mr. E.S. Mallonee Dec. 30, 1874. She was the mother of
seven children, two of whom died at a little over one year of age and are now
with her in heaven. There are four sons, their ages ranging from one to
fourteen, and one sweet little girl now nearing her tenth birthday, who deeply
feel the loss of a good Christian mother. Sister Mallonee was a faithful wife,
a good neighbor, and her hospitality was unbounded, especially to preachers
and their wives, who were always sure of a welcome from her at her home.  Our
lives have been brightened and cheered by her kindnesses to my wife and myself
and we will ever cherish in memory her goodness to us. 

She has been a consistent member of the M.E. Church, South, about thirteen
years. She prayed earnestly the day she died that God might take care of her
husband and children. On being asked "Are you afriad to die?" she answered
distinctly and with a smile, "Oh, no! not at all."  She died as she had lived,
trusting in Jesus as her Saviour. She had good attention by her physician and
husband, also many kind hands were ready to help, but all to no avail. She had
finished her course and must depart. 

The large concourse of neighbors at her burial showed the esteem in which she
was help in this community.  We trust her prayers may be answered in behalf of
her husband and children and that, they may all so live that they may meet her
in heaven. 

Rev. Dr. C.D. Smith will preach her funeral sermon on the fourth Sunday in
October at 11 a.m. at Iotla church, Franklin circuit.
