MACON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - THOMAS RODGERS, JUNE 19, 1890 Published in the Franklin Press, Thursday Feb. 1, 1891 - Vol. V, No.46 Thomas Rodgers was born in Cock County, Tenn., Nov. 19, 1791, and died at his home in Macon county, NC, June 19, 1890, aged 98 years and 7 months. He lived in Macon county about 61 years and was esteemed by all who knew him so far as I know. He was strictly honest in all his dealings, upright in his walk, exhibiting the true characteristics of manly principle to the very last. He was a member of the M.E. Church, South, and a professor of religion, about forty years and lived a blameless Christian life, and died in great peace, assuring his friends yet living that he was going to the better country to join the many loved ones gone before. In his death the church has lost a consistent and faithful member, the community a good citizen and teh family a loving father. But out loss is his eternal gain.
