MACON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - MARGARET L. ROGERS Published in the Franklin Press, Thursday August 1, 1889 Vol. IV No. 20 It is with a degree of sadness that we chronicle the death of Mrs. Margaret L. Rogers, mother of S.L Rogers, which took place at the Britain House at 5:30 o'clock Tuesday evening, of a pulmonary trouble. She had been confined to her bed for some time, and her death was not wholly unexpected, but one so much loved by all who knew her could not be otherwise effected than with sadness. She was about 55years of age and had been a consistent and devoted member of the Methodist Church from early childhood and lived the life of an exemplary Christian, always feeling a deep interest in the conversion of her friends and more particularly her own family, and weilded an influence for great good in the church. She called her friends to her bedside a short time before she died and gave them a parting message, encouraging them to live Christian lives and meet her in heaven: she leaves 6 children, two married and four single, to mourn her loss. The funeral services took place at the Methodist Church at 2:30 o'clock yesterday, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Leith, assisted by Rev. W.R. Barnett. We tender the bereaved ones our earnest sympathies in their great loss. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
