MADISON COUNTY, NC - MILITARY - Malinda Revis, widow of Goodson Revis Civil War Pension Application ----¤¤¤---- State of NC County of Madison. On this 17 day of April AD one thousand nine hundred and 16. Personally appeared before me a Notary Republic within and for the county and state aforesaid Malinda Revis aged 48 years, a resident of Marshall, county of Madison, state of N. C, who being duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain pension under the provision of the ACT OF CONGRESS APPROVED. That she the widow of Goodson Revis and legal guardian of the listed children who was enrolled under the name of Godson Revis on the of Jan. 1865, as a Private in CO. B. 2nd NC Vol. Unit Inf,#705338 and honorably discharged Aug. 16 Th. 1865 having served Ninety days or more during the late war of the rebellion. That the solder was not in the MILITARY OR NAVEL SERVICE of the United States. That she was married under the name of Malinda Ball to said soldier at Marshall, NC on the 11th day of August, in 1897, by C. H. Ball, minister of God; that there was no legal barrier to the marriage; that she had not been previously married; that the soldier had been previously married to one Cinda Brown from who he was divorced in Madison Co NC on Aug. 6th 1897. That said soldier died April 12th 1916, at Marshall, NC that she was not divorced from him; that she has not remarried since his death. That the NAMES AND DATES OF BIRTH of all the children of the soldier, now living, and under SIXTEEN YEARS OF AGE now, are as follows: Lura Revis , born May 11th 1900. Lona Revis, born Aug. 4 1904. Herman Revis, born Dec. 22, 1906. Maggie Revis, born July 20, 1908. That she has not heretofore applied for pension. That she hereby appoints H. L. Douglass of Norristown, Tenn, her true and lawful attorney, to prosecute this claim, Her post-office address is Marshall, NC Route # 2 County of Madison, State of NC. Attest: 1. J. M. McDewitt Jr. 2.
