MADISON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARY - Mrs. R. H. Clark, 5 Apr 1930 ----¤¤¤¤---- Asheville Citizens Newspaper Date: 4-8-1930 Microfilm page 145 Mrs. R. H. Clark, keeper of the County Home near Marshall, died at the Aston Park Hospital in Asheville about four o'clock Saturday afternoon, April 5th, where she has been for about ten days for an operation for appendicitis and other treatment. Mrs. Clark had been in poor health, suffering from high blood pressure for some time, but she was recovering from her operation very satisfactorily and her condition grew serious shortly before she died, her death being due to apoplexy and high blood pressure. Her death came as quite a shock to her many friends and relatives. Funeral services were from Davis Chapel at ten o'clock Monday morning conducted by Rev. P. T. McFee, Rev. Nehemiah Griffin and Rev. Henry Rice. Interment followed at the Ramsey Cemetery near the home of her only daughter, Mrs. Josie Davis. The Woodmen of the World organization took part in the final rites. The Penland Quartette furnished the music. Besides her husband, Mrs. Clark is survived by her father, Mr. G. B. Brown of Little Pine, three sisters, Mrs. W. R. Payne of Route 4; Mrs. Arthur Worley of Route 5; Mrs. Jonah Payne, of Route 5; and one brother, Walter Brown of Marshall. She was a member of Davis Chapel Church, having made a profession of religion when she was twenty. She was well like by her neighbors and put her soul in the work of caring for the inmates of the County Home, of whom there are nineteen at the present time.
