Mrs. John C. Lawson
Died December 2, in Washington, D. C.  Mrs. Belle C. Lawson, beloved wife of
John C. Lawson, formerly of Marshall, N. C. The interment took place December 
4, in Glenwood Cemetery, from her late residence, M [S?] B, Street N. E.
She leaves a husband and five children to mourn her loss, Bell Campbell
Lawson was born April 20, 1869, near Morristown, Tennessee.  At an early age
she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Marshall, N. C.
On January 1, 1890 she was married to John C. Lawson, son of Francis M.
Lawson, of Hot Springs.
For the past ten years they had made their home in Washington, D. C., where
Mr. Lawson has been occupied in connection with the municipal Water Department 
of that city.  For five months Mrs. Lawson laid on her bed of affliction, and 
when all hope of her recovery had fled, with her wonted clearness of vision 
she counselled, planned, instructed, setting her earthly affairs in order for 
her passage, and when her hour had come, with the fearless calm of the 
faithful Christian, who left us, [the rest of this sentence is unreadable]
But a few years ago she came to a great new city, all things strange, all
the people strangers, but her gentle nature, her generous kindness, her
sweet womanliness drew about her such a host of stounch friends, that not a
day of her long illness was her sick room uncheered by fresh flowers, not a
day but that some of the many who had learned to love her came to help her
bear her constant pain, and when the end had come, no bitter was their grief
that her going was like that of a loved sister, breaking a cherished family
tie.
