MADISON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARY - Polly E. Murray, 1907 ----¤¤¤¤---- Asheville-Citizens Times Asheville, N. C. Microfilm page 4 MCR 9-6-1907 In Memory of Polly E. Murray Polly E. Murray the subject of this sketch was the daughter of [Unreadable ] Jervis of Madison County. [Unreadable] Jervis family was one of the first to settle in the Western part of the State. Sister Murray was born January, 11th 1825. She professed religion in her 19th year and joined the Baptist Church at Little Ivy. She was married to W. B. Murray then of Tennessee February the 5th, 1854. She was the mother of four children two girls and two boys. The two daughters have both gone before. The two sons Tom and Will both prominent citizens of the county, and the husband, W. B. Murray survive her. Sister Murray was a kind and affectionate wife, being truly a help-mate to her husband, a tender mother, a good neighbor and a devoted christian. Tho last years of her life was full of suffering, she had the misfortune to fall and so injured her hip that she was never able to walk the last five years of her life. But mid her misfortunes she manifested the greatest patience, never loosing her sweetness of spirit. She died at her old home on Californio Creek, to her the sweetest place on earth. In addition to the husband and two sons she leaves a large number of relatives, and a host of friends to mourn her absence. She sleeps in Jesus blessed sleep, from which none ever wakes to weep. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
