JOEL RAY REESE 

SPRUCE PINE - Joel Ray Reese, 73, of Ed Ledford Lane, died Monday, May 5, 2008 
at Mission Hospitals in Asheville. A native of Madison County, he was the son 
of the late Hardy Reese and Matilda Shetley Reese, and husband of the late 
Josephine Ledford Reese. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Billy and 
Ricky Reese; and a daughter, Tina Reese.

Survivors include a son, Ronnie Reese of Johnson City, Tenn.; a daughter, Ann 
Reese of Knoxville, Tenn.; step daughters, Janet Grindstaff of Burnsville, 
Debbie Hollifield and Susan Phillips, both of Spruce Pine, and Sheila Maynor 
and Donna Gay McClellan, both of Marion; a son, Ronnie McClellan of Forest 
City; a sister, Dorothy Thoma of Hot Springs; seven grandchildren; 16 step 
grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Freewill Baptist 
Church of Spruce Pine. The Revs. Ralph Hedrick and Holt Whitson officiated. 
Burial was in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 1 p.m. 
until the service hour Friday at the church. Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine 
assisted the family.
