MADISON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARY - Lizzie Ramsey, 13 Apr 1929 ----¤¤¤¤---- Asheville Citizens Newspaper Date: 4-26-1929 Microfilm page 133 Mrs. Lizzie Ramsey Dead On April 13, about 2 A.M., the Death Angel visited the home of Mr. J. G. Ramsey and took away his loving companion. Kidney trouble seemed to be the cause of her death. Mrs. Ramsey was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Allen. She was united in marriage to Mr. J. G. Ramsey about 43 years ago. To this union was born 15 children: Lola Rice, Rebecca Cantrell, Dora Rice, Laura Faulkner, Mollie Davis, Victoria Rigsby, Jeter, Ernie, Tennie, Allie, Robbie, Troy all of Marshall; Frank and Hubert of Detroit, also 30 grandchildren. Mrs. Ramsey also leaves a father, one sister, Tina Ledford, two brother, Max and John Allen, of Whitney S. C., and a host of friends. She had been a member of Red Hill church for about 45 years, was faithful in every good cause. She was one among the best church workers that we have ever had. She was affectionately called the "Shouting Lady." She was laid to rest at the Station cemetery April 14, with Rev. Jake A. Martin officiating. He was assisted by Revs. R. S. Wodson, George Quinton, B. E. Guthrie, Henry Ballard, Luther Hurdt, R. V. Self, J. C. Wallace and Arthur Hensley. Mrs. Ramsey will be greatly missed in church and in this community, but she has left a great influence which will last through decades to come. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
