MADISON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARY - W. Floyd Ramsey, 28 Apr 1929 ----¤¤¤¤---- Asheville Citizens Newspaper Date: 4-26-1929 Microfilm page 133 W. Floyd Ramsey, of California Creek, near Mars Hill, died at the French Broad hospital in Asheville, Sunday morning about one o'clock; April 28, 1929, age 40. He had been in poor health for about three years. Having become very much worse, he was taken to the hospital bout nine days before his death. He died of cancer. Funeral services Tuesday morning conducted by Rev. J. J. Eatman, interment following at the Sprinkle graveyard on Sprinkle Creek. Quite a large number of people attended the funeral. He leaves his wife and ten children: Walter, Bessie, Willie, Robert, Roy, Hazel, Harvey, Boyd, Louis and Iva. He is also survived by his father, Mr. B. C. Ramsey; two brothers: J. B. Ramsey and R. H. Ramsey; two sisters; Miss Pansey Ramsey and Mrs. Addie Sparks. He was a member of California Missionary Baptist church, a member in good standing with the Masonic Lodge at Mars Hill-NO. 370 A. F. & a. M. A good man, he will be greatly missed in his community. NOTE: The date of death given in the paper, April 28, is after the date of the newspaper published date.
