MADISON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARY - Enoch Rector, Sr., 8 Sep 1912 ----¤¤¤¤---- Asheville Citizens Newspaper Microfilm pg. 16 Enoch Rector, Sr., owner and proprietor of the Rector Hotel, died at his home Sunday the 8th, at 10 A. M. of Pneumonia fever, after an illness of two weeks and was buried in the Riverside Cemetery Monday at three P. M. The service was held at his home prior to leaving for the cemetary by Rev. E. P. Stabler, the Methodist pastor, assisted by Revs. Finley and Goode, after which he was taken in charge by the Masonic Fraternity of which he was a member, who laid him in his last resting place with the usual Masonic ceremonies. Mr. Rector was sixty seven years old at his death, being the oldest resident of Marshall with the exception of two. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a Mason. He had held offices of trust in the County, the last being that of County Treasurer. He lived an unassuming life, his honesty and character being above reproach. He is survived is survived by his wife and two sons age about five and seven and Mrs. L. J. Bryan who resided near Marshall. He also has one brother Julius Rector who resides in West Asheville, a number of grand children a great number of relatives and a host of friends. 9-20-1912 ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
