MADISON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARY - Dr. Wayne Silver, 23 Nov 1912 ----¤¤¤¤---- Asheville-Citizens Times Microfilm page 16 Laurel Branch and Marshall, N.C. 11-20-1912 Death Of Dr. Wayne Silver After a long and wearing illness, Dr. Wayne Silver died at his father's home, Saturday evening, November 23rd. Typhoid laid hold on him in the late summer, and bravely he fought it to the end. Indeed he won the fight against the fever, but complications took advantage of his weakened condition, and these he could not withstand. In the spring Dr. Silver would have counted his twenty-third birthday, had he lived. His life lay out before him full of promise, it seemed to all who knew him. His brief stay in Marshall, where he had begun the practice of his chosen profession dentistry, won for him the esteem and high regard of all with whom he came in contact. His many friends here followed with great sympathy, and earnest hope and prayers for his recovery, the brave fight he made against death. Three years ago Dr. Silver united with the Baptist church at Laurel Branch. Last summer he moved his membership to the Marshall church. In his religious life he failed not to honor his Lord and Saviour. Genial, kind hearted, gentlemanly always and eager to do good, he won for himself a place in the heart of every acquaintance. We wanted to hold him here below. We felt we needed such a life as his promised to be; but he was not, for God took him. Our hearts now bow in submission, for we believe that though he is absent from the body, he is "present with the Lord." The burial took place Sunday afternoon at the Bailey cemetery in the presence of a great throng of his friends. A number of his Marshall friends attended the funeral. In the services the writer was assisted by Rev. L. C. Roberts. To the bereaved family our hearts go out in full sympathy, and we commend them to the tender keeping and love of Him who knows our sorrow. W. E. GOODE. NOTE: The date the article appeared in the paper is hand written by some one as 11-20-1912 but the date of his death is written in the article as 11-23-1912. I do not know which is correct. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
