MADISON COUNTY, NC - OBITUARY - A. J. & J. H. Stines, 20 Apr 1907 ----¤¤¤¤---- Asheville Citizens Times Microfilm page 4 MCR 4-26-1907 Hot Springs, N. C. A. J. & J. H. Stines who lived near Hot Springs were killed last Saturday morning of the 20th at [9 a.m.?] by passenger train 101. It is supposed they were [paper torn] to [paper torn] of a freight train on east side [paper torn] which was slowly leaving for the east on the arrival of 101, and were knocked off of track between siding and main line. Jake or "Uncle Yuck" as he was familiarly known was killed instantly and Jack lived until about 12 pm, but was unconsious until time of death. Both men were brothers and were honest and upright citizens, was school committe of Highland Distrct. The writer was on the train at the time they were killed on his way to Hot Springs. Their familys were very much shocked when they heard the sad news. As they were expecting them to return home by 12 m. from Hot Springs with there necessaries of life that they had gone to purchase. We extend our sincere and heartful sympathy to the familys of both men in their sad bereavement. The funeral services were conducted by Mr. E. L. Brooks near the home of A. J.
