Vol. M page 177 This indenture made and entered into the 19 day of November 1839 between Joseph G. CARRAWAY of the one part and Elizabeth SWANNER, the wife of Jesse L. SWANNER of the other part, both of the County of Martin and State of North Carolina-witnesseth that the said Joseph G. CARRAWAY for and in consideration of the sum of $1400 in the exchange of land to him paid or secured to be paid by the said Elizabeth SWANNER... do give, grant...certain tract of land lying and being in the aforesaid county of Martin bounded as follows: beginning at a bank in Tice's line, thence eastwardly a straight course to a gum and maple corner in the edge of a swamp, thence southwardly a straight course to a pine corner standing in the edge of the hills, thence westwardly along the edge of the hills to Carraways old line, thence along that line to King and Jones corner, thence along King's line to Williams line, then along Williams line to Williams and Eastons corner, thence along Eason's line to his and Tice's corner, a lightwood stake, thence along Tice's line to the beginning containing 400 acres.
