A, p. 493-494 William HOOTEN, Sr. of Martin Co., NC to Charles HOOTEN of Martin Co., NC 19 March 1787 State of North Carolina Martin County This Indenture made this nineteenth day of March one Thousand seven hundred and eighty seven between Wm. HOOTEN, Senr. of the County of Martin and state aforesaid of the one part and Charles HOOTEN of the County & State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William HOOTEN, Senr. for and inconsideration of the sum of two hundred pounds good & lawful money to him in hand paid by the said Charles HOOTEN the receipt whereof the said William HOOTEN doth hereby acknowledge he the said William HOOTEN hath granted bargained & Sold alined and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell, aline and confirm unto the said Charles HOOTEN, his heirs and assigns forever all that message or tenement of land situate lying and being in the County aforesaid beginning at a green on the back line thence N 7 W 188 poles to a green on Warwick Creek pocosin thence the same course throw the pocosin to the Creek it being a dividing line between Henry HOOTEN & the said Charles HOOTEN being the upper end of a tract that the said William HOOTEN, Senr. purchased of David TURNER known by the name of Warwick be the same more or less and also all lands woods, trees under woods commons, common? of pasture profits commodities advantages hereditaments ways waters and appurtenances whatsoever to the sd. message or tenement and premises above mentioned belonging or in anywise appertaining and also the reversion and reversions & remainder & remainders unto and all the services of the said premises and every post thereof and all the estate right title interest claim & demand whatsoever of him the William HOOTEN of in and to the said message or tenement and all and every part thereof. To have & To hold the said message & tenement & premises and all and singular the said premises above mentioned and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said Charles HOOTEN his heirs and assigns to the only paper use & behoof of the said Charles HOOTEN his heirs & assigns forever and the said William HOOTEN, Sr. for himself & his heirs & assigns the said message & tenement and premises & every port thereof against him the said William HOOTEN & against his heirs and against all and every other person & persons whatsoever tot he said Charles HOOTEN his heirs and assigns shall & will warrant and forever defend the same by these presents.
