MAMIE GERTRUDE MIZELLE MARTIN

SUFFOLK – Mamie Gertrude Mizelle Martin, 87, of the 4500 block of Carolina Road, 
died March 13, 1998, in Obici Hospital.

She was a native of Martin County, N.C. and the daughter of the late Louis W. 
Mizelle and Fannie Harrison Mizelle. She was the widow of Thaddaus I. Martin. 
Mrs. Martin retired as a stock clerk with B.D. Ladderberg’s.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Iris M. and James Earl “Rusty” Vann 
of Suffolk; granddaughters, Kathy V. Goodrich of Suffolk, Barbara V. Mathias of 
Roanoke Rapids, and Deborah V. Kloos of Des Moinnes, Iowa; three great-
granddaughters and five great-grandsons; and a sister, Doshia M. Wood of 
Chocowinity, N.C.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Holly Lawn Cemetery by 
the Rev. Cameron Currin. Visitation is from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Harrell 
Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to 
the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad.
