A., p. 501 State of North Carolina Martin County This indenture made this nineteenth day of March one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven between William HOOTEN, Senr. of the County & State aforesaid of the one part & Charles HOOTEN of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said William HOOTEN for and in consideration of the sum of ten pounds to him in hand paid by the said Charles HOOTEN the receipt whereof the said William HOOTEN doth grant bargain sell aline convey and confirm unto the said Charles HOOTEN his heirs and assigns a certain lot or parcel of land lying in Warwick on Roanoke River. Beginning at a whit oak on the river a corner of William HOOTENS thence along his line South with 71 West 15 pole to a post thence North 21 West 9 poles to another post thence North 71 East 5 pole to another post thence down the river to the first station containing eighty one square poles unto him he sd. Charles HOOTEN his heirs & assigns forever with all he privileges and advantages unto the said premises belonging or in anywise appertaining unto the said premises above mentioned with all & singular the my right & title as a good and sufficient right free and clear from all encumbrances whatsoever unto the Charles HOOTEN his heirs and assigns forever and the said William HOOTEN, Senr. for himself his heirs & assigns the said message & tenement and premises and every part thereof against him and his heirs and against all & every part thereof against him an his heirs and against all & every other person or persons whatsoever shall & will warrant and forever defend the same by these presents.
