One thousand, Seven Hundred and Seventy Eight, I John Hardison of the State of N. Carolina, and Martin County, being in bodily health an perfect mind and Memory Calling to mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die to make and ordain this my last will and Testament and first and principally of all I give my Soul unto the hands of God that gave it and my body I Recomand to the Earth to be Deciently buried in a Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing Doubting but but at the General Resurection I shall Receive the Same again by the Mighty power of God that gave it and as Touching Such worldy Estate as pleases God to blefs me with in this life I give and dispose of the Same in the following manner That is to Say first I give to my wife Olive Hardison one part of the mill Stones that she brought here with her I Likewise give to my wife Olive Hardison, one half of all my household goods and furniture one gray mair Branded thus 33 and one third of all my horse kind Cattle and Sheep and all my hogs I do lend to my wife Olive Hardison use of half of my plantation and the use of all the houses and half the benefit of the Orchards for and During her naturale life or as long as she sees fit to live on the said plantation and no longer and the work and labor of Negro hannah Six years to help Raise two young Children I lend to my wife Olive Hardison one half of the benefit of my third of the griss mill During her life or as long as She lives on my plantation and no longer I give to my son William Hardison half a Track of Land Lying in the Narmouth neck and Cravens neck I give the other half of that Same track of land I give to my Son Benjamin Hardison I give to my son William Hardison one Negroe boy named Bob I give to my son Benjamin Hardison one Negroe man named Cakshy I give to my son John Hardison my Plantation and the land thereabouts Belonging to my wife having the use of one half her life or as long as she lives thereon I give to my son John Hardison the land Joyning James Moore known by the name Mannings Old Field and the land Joyning to it I give to my youngist Daughter Frances Hardison and the Child my wife Child with if a Son named Robert all that parsel of Land lying Between Deep Run Benjamin Hardisons Line and the mill pond to be equally Divided between Frances Hardison and Robert, I give to three Sons William, Benjamin and John after Raising and paying twenty pounds to my five Daughters to Mary Beasley Twenty pounds to Elizabeth Moore twenty pounds to Sarah Meagle twenty pounds to Ann Mizell twenty pounds to Hannah Hardison twenty pounds. I give to my three Sons above named all my property of my Sawmill and grist mill that is Not Mentioned before I give to my grandson i give to my grandson John Hardison that lives with me one Cow and Calf one yeo and lam I give all my House hold good furniture to my son John Hardison and My Daughter Hannah Hardison to Equally Divided between them all that is Not before Mentioned and I also give all the Remainder of Horses Cattle Sheep and Every other thing that is not Mentioned to be equally Divided Amongst my Ten Children that is above named and if any Should Die with out are there parts to be Equally Divided amounst them that living I give a Negro woman named hannah to my Son John Hardison after the Experation of Six years and all her Increase to be Bquall Divided Amoung my ten Children after this Date I give the work and Labor of Manger to my wife During her Natural life or as long as she lives on the Plantation towards Raising and Schooling the Two young Children, and I do hereby appoint and ordain William Hardison Benjamin Hardison and John Hardison my three sons my Exts.of this my Last will and Testament Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament and no Other.
