MARGUERITE LEE BURLESON 

SPRUCE PINE - Marguerite (Cookie) Lee Burleson, 71, of Rabbit Hop Road, died 
Monday, May 8, 2006 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. A native of McDowell 
County, she was the daughter of the late Roby and Bessie Sparks Lee. She was 
also preceded in death by a son, Scottie Burleson. She was a lifelong member 
of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Burleson of the home; a son, Tim Burleson 
of Spruce Pine; a daughter, Carolyn Adkins of Spruce Pine; one sister, Rebekah 
Sparks of Bakersville; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Liberty Hill Baptist Church. 
Revs. David Philbeck and David Johnson officiated. Burial was in the church 
cemetery. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of 
Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine.
