WILLIAM HOBERT FREEMAN

MARION - William Hobert (Hobe) Freeman, 94, formerly of Spruce Pine, 
died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at Oteen VA Nursing Facility. He was the 
son of the late Dock and Stella Franklin Freeman, and husband of the 
late Ada Barrier Freeman. He was also preceded in death by a son, 
Harlan Freeman; and sisters, Ann Kear and Lela Harlow. He owned and 
operated WH Freeman's Nursery and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.
Survivors include his daughters, Judy Presnell of Burnsville and 
Viola Wright of Marion; a son, Gary L. Freeman of Spruce Pine; 
sisters, Winnie Franklin of Citrus Heights, CA, and Inez Fullbright 
of Marion; brothers, James Freeman of Elizabeth City, Omar Freeman 
of Spruce Pine, Carl Freeman of Vinita, OK, Earnest Freeman of 
Candler, and Robert Freeman of Morganton; eight grandchildren; 11 
great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one step great 
grandchild; and one step great great grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Grindstaff 
Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Burial will be 
at 1 p.m. Sunday in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery. The family 
received friends from 5 p.m. until the service hour Saturday at the 
funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of McDowell
County, 218 North Logan Street, Marion, NC 28752.
