He was the son of the late Fred and Fannie Walker Knowlton, and husband of the late Joyce Lewis Knowlton. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Calvin Knowlton Jr. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and retired from Old Fort Finishing. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include three sons, Charles Edward Knowlton of New Mexico, Daniel Calvin Knowlton of Marion, and Kevin L. Knowlton of Spruce Pine; a daughter, Cynthia Shaping of Old Fort; three sisters, Bertha Fohl of Old Fort, Edna Williams of Pleasant Gardens, and Louise Parker of Greer, SC; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home. Revs. Guy Godfrey, Jack Bridges and George Williams officiated. Burial was in Ebenezer UMC Cemetery. The family received friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
