Isaac Campbell and wife, Mary Ann, C.H. Johnston, William Knowles and wife, 
Isabellia R. v. Jonathan Johnston

Petiton to sell Negroes

In this case, it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the 
defendant/defendants, Jonathan Johnston reside beyond the limits of this 
State: It is therefore ordered by the Court that publication be made for 30 
days in the Charlotte Journal notifying said defendant non-resident to be and 
Appear at our next Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions to be held for said 
County at the Court House at Charlotte on the 4th Monday in April next. 

Then and there to plead, answer or demur to this petition filed: Otherwise 
judgment will be taken pro confesso and the matter will be heard ex parte will 
be made as to them.

January 1847
