Civil War Service
American Civil War Soldiers
   SAMUEL ELLIOTT of Mecklenburg, N.C., first  enlisted as a Private on 14 
March 1862 at the age of 23. He enlisted again on 21 of April 1862 in Company 
F, 49th Infantry, North Carolina (Confederate) Troops. He was promoted to 
Sergeant on 7 Oct. 1862, and to 1st Lieutenant on 14 May, 1864. He surrendered 
at Appomattox Court House, Va. on April 9, 1865.
