C. He entered the service under General Griffith Rutherford and Colonel Adam Alexander in the Cherokee Campaign. He served under General Benjamin Lincoln and Captain James Osborn in the Siege of Charleston; and also served with General Thomas Sumter, Colonel William Polk and Captain Thomas Shelby.
