   -- According to custom, the students and families in the vicinity of 
Davidson College, together with a respectable concourse from the surrounding 
county, congregated in the Chapel on the evening of the 20th inst., and were 
agreeable entertained for a short time by orations from the members of the 
Senior Class in the following order:
   H. C. ALEXANDER, Education
   H. W. BLACK, The Influence of Fictitious Writings on Morals
   W. P. BYNUM, Our Country
   T. C. CRAWFORD, Social Intercourse
   W. L. DAVIDSON, The Probability of the Downfall of America
   H. B. JOHNSON, Patrick Henry
   T. A. KRIDER, Shakespeare
   H. R. McLEAN, The American Indian
