Howie, who left Charlotte two years ago to make his home in Texas was shot dead at Snipe Springs in that State last night. Mr. James Howie, his brother, this morning received a telegram to that effect. The telegram was sent by the unfortunate young man's wife and gave no particulars. It merely stated that Mr. Howie had been shot and instantly killed. Mr. James Howie immediately telegraphed to Snipe Springs for particulars of the affair but up to a late hour this afternoon no reply had been received. Mr. Howie was about 21 years of age. He left Charlotte two years ago and made his home at Snipe Springs, Texas. He married a young lady there, who, with young child, survives him.
