Aug. 3, 1849       Charlotte Journal
   DIED, in Charlotte, on the 29th ult., after a protracted illness, MR. EVAN 
ALEXANDER, son of the late COL. EVAN ALEXANDER of Mecklenburg County, in the 
20th year of his age. MR. ALEXANDER went to Mexico in Capt. Caldwell's 
Company, where he caught the diarrhea which ultimately terminated his life.
