   DIED, in Mecklenburg, on the 23rd ult., WILLIAM B. ALEXANDER, ESQ., after a 
tedious illness of more than three years, in the 80th year of his age. he was, 
though a youth of 16, engaged in the struggle for American Independence. He 
was the Register for Mecklenburg County for nearly 40 years. He has left 14 
children, eleven of whom followed him to the grave.
