He was a useful and much respected member of society and had been for more than 30 years an elder in the Presbyterian Church at Sugar Creek. He was a son of HEZEKIAH ALEXANDER, on e of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence, which was made 20th May 1775. He has a distinct recollection of the transactions of that day and has left few if any survivors who participated in the enthusiastic devotion to civil and religious liberty which animated the public mind at that important period.
