JAMES MALONE GARLAND 

HOLLY SPRINGS - James Malone Garland, 79, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006. A 
native of Bakersville, he was the son of the late James Luther and Bessie 
Street Garland. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Bascom, Claude, 
Howard, Paul, Grover and James A. Garland; and four sisters, Francis Ollis, 
Hazel Wise, and Estelle and Jessie Garland. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran 
of WWII and then a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was owner of Garland Homes in 
Pennsylvania, and after retiring operated E&J Garland's wholesale and surplus 
in Monks Corner, SC and Holly Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Eloise P. Garland of the home; two sons, Dennis M. 
Garland and James L. Garland, both of Harrisburg, Pa.; three daughters, Susan 
George and Deborah Rocca, both of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Glenda Penigar of Ford 
City, Pa.; and one sister, Faire Ingram of Cockeysville, Md. 

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Bakersville Baptist 
Church. Paul Garland Jr. officiated. Burial followed in Garland Family 
Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, P.O. 
Box 10254, Atlanta, Ga. 30368. Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville 
assisted the family.
