MARTHA HOLTON DIES AT SEVENTH STREET HOME ----- Mrs. Martha Baker Holton, wife of Charles F. Holton, died Monday morning at her home on East Seventh street, following a stroke of apoplexy August 11, caused by a fall the previous night. The funeral will be conducted this afternoon at 5 o'clock at the home, with Dr. Luther Little, pastor of the First Baptish church, in charge. Interment will be in Elmwood cemetery. Mrs. Holton was born in Long Creek township March 31, 1851 and was, therefore, 68 years of age. She was married to Charles F. Holton October 30, 1879. The following children survive: Dr. Thomas J. Holton, of Brunswick, Ga.; Miss Mary Kendrick Holton, William H. Holton, and Gilmer H. Holton, Charlotte. Gilmer Holton, Jr. and Charles Moore Holton, grandchildren, also survive. The following brothers and sisters also survive: W. D. Baker, of Steel Creek; Charles F. Briard, of Columbia, S. C., Miss Alice Baker, and Mrs. T. J. Flow, of Long Creek. Mrs. Holton was a member of the First Baptist church, being one of the first members of the church's missionary society. She was also actively interested in the work of the church, particularly that of the mission societies. Before coming to Charlotte she was a member of the Flint Hill Baptist church, near Pineville.
