THOMAS HOLTON, (father of the editor of this paper) in the 78th year of his age. The deceased was born in Philadelphia, but removed early in life to Richmond, Va., where he resided the greater part of his time until 1817, when he removed to Salisbury, N.C., and removed from that place to Eatonton. He was an industrious man and followed his business to the last, although his sight had failed him. He was a soldier of the Revolution, and we have often heard him say that he was in several battles during that eventful struggle, in one of which he was wounded. He has left six chidren to mourn his loss -- and only one was present to perform the last offices to a departed parent.
